Colon Hydrotherapy, also known as colonic or colonic irrigation is a safe, all-natural way of removing waste from the colon without the use of drugs.
The colon is a 5 to 6-foot tube-like organ that is connected to the small intestine. Its job is to absorb any remaining water and electrolytes from the semi-solid remains of our diets and to form fecal matter. Through a wavelike motion called peristalsis, fecal matter and waste material are evacuated through the anal cavity. Colon hydrotherapy softens and loosens fecal matter by allowing a small amount of temperature and pressure controlled filtered water to flow into the colon. This helps to facilitate the evacuation of impacted fecal matter, retained gas, and other waste materials through the natural action of the colon. The inflow of a small amount of water and the release of waste may be repeated several times during a session.
At the HC3 Wellness Center (formerly Houston Colon Care Center), colon hydrotherapy is conducted in a professional, comfortable, private setting with session time lasting approximately 55 minutes. After a session, many clients report leaving with an increased feeling of well-being, more energy, and renewed vitality.

FAQs
Are there pre-existing conditions that may prevent someone from receiving Colon Hydrotherapy services?
Please review the list of Contraindications prior to scheduling an appointment as well as the Preparation and After Care instructions. What is a Colon Hydrotherapy Session Like?
Sessions take place in a tranquil spa-like setting and are facilitated by an I-ACT Certified Colon Hydrotherapist. Clients are gowned and draped at all times. FDA approved equipment and disposable single-use nozzles and hoses are utilized.Does it hurt?
Whatever a client feels when they normally use the bathroom is typically what they will experience during a Colonic session. Helpful breathing techniques are employed to promote relaxation and elimination during a session. How long will it take?
New clients should schedule approximately 90 minutes for the entire process. When clients come in, your intake form is reviewed by the therapist. After which, the instrumentation and procedure are explained in detail. The therapist then addresses any questions or concerns. Once the client is completely comfortable, the colonic begins which does not exceed 45 minutes. Can I eat before a session?
It is more comfortable to not have a Colonic with a full stomach. Therefore, it is recommended to not eat 2- 3 hours prior to a session. Please review the Preparation and After Care information for additional information on foods best before and after a session.
Can I go to work after a session?
Yes. Clients do not have to restrict their schedule in any way.
Will only one session do the job?
One session will only empty part of the colon. As many doctors have written in health books, two sessions are recommended the first week, back to back, one session the second week. After which, a single maintenance session is recommended every month for most. Please keep your wellness goal(s) in mind and discuss them with your medical doctor before your session so that a more accurate recommendation can be suggested. Will a colonic make me constipated or delay my bowel movements?
The most frequent post-colon irrigation experience is to have a slight delay in bowel movements and then a resumption of a somewhat larger, easier-to-move stool. Sometimes, if the colon is weak and sluggish, there may be no bowel movement for several days following a colonic. This is not due to the Colonic, but rather to the weakness of the colon, and should be interpreted as an indication that the colon requires strengthening and healing. Will a colonic wash away the good and bad bacteria?
There is some debate surrounding this. However, many clients use a Probiotic which is an over the counter dietary supplement found in most health food stores to restore the good bacteria. Clients who eat dairy could also use Greek yogurt. What type of system is used?
An open system is used at the Center.
